Mining Welder Competency

Overview

The Mining Welder Competency (MWC) program provides mine sites with a means for ensuring that Welders have the necessary knowledge and proficiency to safely carry out effective weld repairs of cracking in mining equipment.
The MWC consists of 3 competency levels, which consist of theory and practical training and competency assessment via a weld test that simulates typical crack repairs.
The two key benefits of the MWC to the mining industry are:
1. It provides a simple way to manage site authorisation (via a TNA) to ensure that a welder is proficient with all the required welding processes
2. It helps save money on repairs and equipment downtime by reducing cracking issues.
